Electricity

I was reading http://www.howstuffworks.com/surge-protector.htm after having read

as she blew the hard drive on her laptop.

Is it enough to protect my equipment? *sigh*

Registration done & BOOKS!

21 11 2009

Registration opened on November 20, 2009 and this was what the e-mail asked us to sign up for:
10147     Dev/Microscopic Anatomy I
10148     Gross Anatomy I
10149     Doctor, Patient & Society I
10150     Biochemistry & Genetics I
10151     Medical Physiology I

I really like not having to think about what classes I have to take right now. The classes are set. It is nice to have a defined or set schedule. Without a routine, sometimes I get bored and lost in life. At least now, all I can do is study because there won’t be much to do on the island! 🙂

Pictures of the books we’ll be using for the first two semesters. I didn’t buy all of them because I found a few are available at the library. Will post more images of additional books into the second semester.

All sorts of questions come up.

6 11 2009

  • Q: Should I buy a white lab coat now or wait for Ross U to give me one on the island?
A: Ross will “surprise” us by giving us one on the island for the White Coat Ceremony.
  • Q: What would the Anatomy lab professors say about bright, hot red scrubs?
A: Of course this is too bright, but you can wear whatever you want.
  • Q: Do I really need to spend over $200 on an otoscope & ophthmaloscope?
A: If I want to be a great doctor, then: yes. But I am going to hold out until I do clinical rotations and then get one.
  • Q: If I ship barrels via Tropical Shipping, who will receive it in Dominica and how much am I paying on custom fees? Do I have to arrange someone to go pick up?
A: pending. Also note the barrels might have smells from last use, should wrap things in plastic bags if you need to protect anything from absorbing the smell.
  • Q: How much will I be expecting to pay for electricity on top of my rent?
    A: pending

MORE QUESTIONS TO COME..
